Thank you to Kirsty L for her Bure Valley 10 report:
Sunday 27th September.
Today is the 10th anniversary of the Bure Valley 10 mile event. I absolutely love this event and today was my 8th time taking part in it. The route has never changed but it still doesn’t make the hills any easier 🤣 There aren’t many races that you would class as flat and this isn’t one of them! It is definitely undulating.
Starting at the village hall, you gently wind downhill and through the village before coming out into some beautiful countryside. Quiet country roads with minimal but patient traffic and the roads aren’t closed so any kind of headphones are prohibited. The course eventually comes to the first incline and a confusing for some 4 mile marker before we’ve reached 2 miles! Once past this, the road splits left and right. Off we go to the left and do a loop round and back up the road past the now official 4 mile point and back to the end of the road to now turn right. This is where the front of pack runners are now steaming back so between my mile 4-5, they are now approaching mile 7. All looking effortless and getting compliments about their running! Off up (again!) to the left and it’s a punchy hill and I’m really pleased to keep running up it 💪🏻 even more pleased when I reach the top and it flattens out – very mean to have a photographer there though 🤣
Off round to make a lollipop picture for Strava (other running apps available…), past the 2nd water station and then it’s just a parkrun back to the village green for the finish line. Well done team RntS – Will A-D, Alex A and Tim (1st in age category). Plus me!
Highly recommend this one for building up to a half marathon or just a lovely run ☺️
Thank you to Francesca for her support.
