Thetford Trails 10k Series – Race 2

The first official event of the year with RntS members taking part (that I’m aware of).

Well done to the 6 RntS who took part, and, in the process got the second part of the 3 medals which all join together. One more to go!

RAF Marham NYE 10k

Last race of the year!

From an initial RntS starting group of almost 10 runners, due to sickness and injury, the field was reduced to a lonely two on the day!

We did have some family and RntS member support though (thanks for the sausage rolls Shirley, and the cheering Lucy H adn Cam’s family)

Another nice event by Marham Flyers with possibly the best 10k goodie bag ever (2 bars of chocolate, energy bar, pin badge, medal, a few paper games, air freshener, bottle of beer (and also coke, water and fruit juice if wanted) and a packet of crisps!

Also, they made around £3000 for the RAF Benevolent Fund from the event. A very worthwhile cause. The next 10k and duathlon will be on the 9th June.

Merry RntSmas and Hair of the Dog 2018

Lovely turnout on Christmas Day with 28 runners going for a lovely social 5k run. You’d think we’d all have something better to do!

Thanks to Alison B and family for the Sloe Gin at the end.

Also, The Queens Head Foulsham Hair of the Dog Fun Run took part on boxing day. Home made sausage rolls and mince pies to celebrate at the end! Nice!

Buxton Fun Run

Much better weather this year for the RntS who donned their fancy dress outfits for the Buxton Fun Run.

Every penny raised goes to Autism Anglia.

A winner in the fancy dress (well done Lucy Mc, fantasticwork and a PB in a box!  Excellent running), lots of great home cooked cakes to refuel and a raffle to win a few bottles on (I’m sure we had some winners!).

Well done everyone.  Next year, maybe we can all dress up as a group?

Tweed Valley Ultra

Congratulation to Glyn for completing the Tween Valley Ultra today.

65km of hilly terrain (1574mtrs of elevation gain!).

Well done Glyn.  A fantastic time considering the terrain.  We look forward to hearing about it.

Official Time:
Glyn – 8:40:33

Snetterton Race Track Half Marathon

Much (much!) warmer than last year, with a slight breeze (which got stronger as the race went on) but otherwise a perfect day for a run around Snetterton Race Track (3 times).

This year, was the first year of the Marathon (6 laps) at the track, so the runners for this started early and then the HM runners started about 30 minutes later.  The downside of this, for the Marathon runners, was the fact that the faster of them came upon the masses of the HM runners at the end of their first lap.

Once again, there was live music around the track and we’re pleased to see that a new Strava segment has been created called the Bridge Of Doom Switchback (for anyone who has run the course, you’ll know that the description for this is spot on!).  It doesn’t seem so bad the first time…..

Even with the ‘Bridge Of Doom Switchback’ we all managed PBs.  The training must be working!

Official Times:
Mat – 1:34:18 – PB
Paula – 1:49:24 – PB
Mark – 2:07:46 – PB
Hayley W – 2:08:32 – PB

Sublime Long Sutton 10k

The first event partaken by members of RntS on a busy Sunday.

This one was also first in a couple of ways, first 10k for Angie and first race event ever for Tasha!

Brilliant running by both who thoroughly deserve their medals and t-shirts.

Official Times:
Tasha – 1:02:56
Angie – 1:15:33
