Club Championship Handicap Series 2025/26

What is the Handicap Series?

Join us for a fun and welcoming in-house event series, featuring a variety of distances (from 2 miles to 10K) at different local locations!

Our unique handicap system ensures that everyone gets a fair and exciting event – each runner starts at a time based on their predicted finish, with the fastest runners starting last. This way, everyone has a great chance to finish close together, creating an exciting final stretch full of friendly competition and encouragement.

Whether you’re looking to catch a few runners ahead or hold your position, it’s all about having fun and challenging yourself!

When are the races?
Sunday 20th April – Fakenham 5K
Sunday 25th May – Holt 10K
Monday 23rd June – 5K in the park
Monday 4th August – 5K on the beach
Sunday 7th September – Hainford 5K
Monday 22nd September – 2 mile handicap in the park
November – Any parkrun

How does the series work?
The series includes seven events, with awards given at the end of the season. The top three finishers in each event will receive awards, but there are also overall series awards based on average finishing position, fastest male and female, and age-graded performance.

To qualify for the overall series awards, you need to complete at least four out of the seven events, and since only your best 4 events count, there’s no need for anyone to enter paid-for events in order to participate in the championships.

The handicap starts will only take place for the three club events, but target times will be used for the other events to calculate the results.

Your Handicap team of Lucy McCallum, Andrew Tuckett and myself will be sorting the handicaps for the series. We’ll also need some volunteers to help out at some of the events too, shout outs will happen nearer the time.

What do you need to do?
